Why Studies on Marriage are Good for Everyone

Starting this Sunday we’re going to be spending our time in the adult class on the subject of marriage through a study called, “What Did You Expect? Redeeming the Realities of Marriage.” (Video Promo below)

I thought it would be good to give you a few reasons why studies on marriage are good to do even IF you don’t think they apply to you in your season of life. So, let’s consider a few of those seasons and why it’s still good to know what God tells us about marriage.

  1. Young and Single – This one should be obvious. You will probably want to get married someday! So, you should definitely want to know what the inventor of marriage has to say about one of his most famous inventions.
  2. Widows/Widowers – This one isn’t so obvious. Aren’t marriage studies for people who are, you know…married? Not so fast! Our older saints with no plans to marry may still benefit from a study like this because it could give them EVEN MORE tools that they can use to be an encourager and helper to the other marriages in their church, family, or other social circles. Just because it might not apply directly to your situation, doesn’t mean you can’t use it to bless someone else.
  3. Healthy Marriages – This one isn’t so obvious either. But hopefully you know (if not, your spouse does) that no marriage is perfect. They can be healthy, but not perfect. So, a refresher on marriage can keep remind those healthy marriages to “take heed, lest they fall.”
  4. Marriages in Crisis – Some folks might be thinking, “I need way more than a Sunday school to help my marriage!” And that’s true. No Sunday school class is a “silver-bullet” for our problems…but then again, there are no silver-bullets for any of our problems. The Lord uses a host of means, a whole box of tools, to build us up. This is just one thing among many that can come to your aid and point you in the right direction.

We start this Sunday, September 27th, 9:00 AM at Discovery Church! See you there!
